* The big winner in last night’s Republican presidential debate was…the moderators. Or more to the point, the QUESTIONS the moderators asked. They focused on issues important to Republican voters in a Republican primary. What a novel idea.
* Among the candidates, DeSantis cleaned everyone’s clock. He knows the issues, comes prepared, and has a record in office to back up his rhetoric. No wonder Trump won’t debate him.
* And since Trump won’t lower himself to actually compete for the GOP presidential nomination and just wants it handed to him on a silver platter, the next debate should be one-on-one, DeSantis vs. Haley.
* Based on her performance last night, Haley wouldn’t have a prayer. But too many people still think her conservative rhetoric matches her conservative actions. They don’t. And people really need to know that.
* Christie and Vivek are nothing but sideshows at this point. Though I’d be happy to tune into a debate between those two, moderated by FOX News’ Greg Gutfeld, just for the pure entertainment value.
* The next time you read about some violent criminal being released on low or no bail but be required to wear an ankle bracelet, remember this headline about the guy in Austin, Texas:
“Man Accused of Murdering 6 had Removed Ankle Bracelet.”
* The man was out on the streets from a domestic violence arrest.
