* No, I won’t be participating in the Nevada Republican Party’s “rigged” caucus on February 8th. What’s the point?
* Yes, I voted early on Saturday in the Presidential Preference Primary for “None of the Above.”
* No, I didn’t vote by mail. I opted out of receiving mail-in ballots.
* I voted at my neighborhood precinct location with a CNN film crew in tow. We did an extensive interview afterwards about how the Nevada GOP screwed this up royally. Scheduled to air on February 5th.
* It was not helpful for President Trump in his Las Vegas speech on Saturday to encourage people to NOT vote in the February 6 primary. People with a perfect voting record who don’t vote will have their perfect voting record spoiled if they don’t cast a ballot.
* I’m happy to report that Gov. Joe Lombardo’s office informed me today that it has accepted our request to issue a proclamation honoring Ronald Reagan on The Gipper’s birthday, February 6th.
* In an effort to get Republicans out of their super-minority status in the Assembly, Gov. Lombardo has recruited, vetted, trained and endorsed a half-dozen quality candidates to run for “swing” Democrat-incumbent seats this year.
* All but one of the seats is in Clark County. Assembly District 25 in Washoe County is on the target list.
* In that race, Republican recruit Diana Sande is challenging Democrat incumbent Selena La Rue Hatch - a government-school teacher who opposes a parent’s right to choose a private school option.
* In the most recent campaign finance reports, it was disclosed that Sande outraised Hatch roughly $52,000 to $8,000. Sande ended the year with roughly $49,000 cash on hand; Hatch, $23,000.
* Definitely a flippable seat for Republicans.
* Freshman Nye County school board member Chelsy Fischer has announced she plans to run for the Nevada State Senate. The question is…why?
* Former conservative Republican Assemblyman John Ellison – who’s earned a lifetime conservative voting record of 90 percent – is running for the same seat.
* Challenging him in a GOP primary is either all about ego or all about her campaign consultant wanting to get a paycheck. I’m guessing a little of both.
* Valentine’s Day plans?
* Join me in Mesquite on Wednesday, February 14 at 5:30 pm for a fun evening of “Love & Politics,” hosted by the Mesquite Republican Women.
* I guarantee it won’t be your usual boring political speech. We’ve got a really FUN and different program planned. Perfect “date night.” Free admission. For more information, email MesquiteRW@yahoo.com.
