* The Prison Board consists of Sisolak –who was booted out of office last month – Democrat Attorney General A.Ron Ford – who is expected to run for governor in 2026 – and the members of the Nevada Supreme Court, all of whom must face voters sometime down the road.
* A lawsuit has been filed to blockSisolak’s soft-on-murderers proposal.
* Executing murderers assures they’llnever escape from prison – as that pipe-bomber did under Sisolak’s watch a few weeks ago – and will never be able to harm or kill a fellow inmate or prison guard.
* From the Daily Wire back in June: “Aconvicted murderer got into a chase and deadly shootout with Texas police Thursday night after authorities say he escaped from a prison bus last month
and was named the prime suspect in the slaying of a family of five.”
* Executions also mean taxpayers will nolonger be on the hook for the murderers’ room and board and medical care. The solution is to stop the endless appealsthat delay executions, not to allow murderers to escape the same death sentence they gave to their victims.
* Now, I know many of you aren’t goingto want to hear this, but ignoring it won’t make it go away. “Trump Fatigue” is real and growing. Consider these recent observations from conservative columnist Arnold Steinberg in the American Spectator…
* “Republicans will vote overwhelminglyfor Trump against a Democrat, but not for Trump against another Republican. An initially crowded field will dissipate sooner rather than later, as one candidate - not Trump - becomes the most viable. All polls will show that Trump is the weakest in a general election, and even diehard Trump supporters will be increasingly pragmatic.
* “The largest donors already havedeserted Trump. Internet small donors will eventually settle on a few candidates and then one whose policies are not that indistinguishable from
Trump, but who is without his baggage, which — despite the unprecedented witch-hunt against him — may include at least one plausible, legitimate indictment/prosecution.”
* I’m not saying he’s right. I’m not saying he’s wrong. I’m just saying that if Republicans aren’tcareful during the coming GOP presidential primary fight, a bitter political
civil war could divide the party so badly that Democrats could end up keeping
the White House and maybe take back the House in 2024.
* On a brighter note, a couple small raysof sunshine in last month’s disastrous election results for Republicans nationwide: The GOP enjoyed gains with young voters under 30 and among
minorities, especially Hispanics.
* Although embattled Nevada RepublicanParty Chairman Michael McDonald isn’t up for re-election until 2023 or 2025 (there’s a dispute over when a recent bylaws change actually takes effect), Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel is running again
in an election to be held in January.
* McDaniel is being challenged byCalifornia National Committeewoman Harmeet Dhillon, who has been extremely active fighting for GOP candidates over the years and thinks it’s time for new leadership after Republicans lost in the last three election cycles.
* BTW, MyPillow’s Mike Lindell is alsorunning for the post.
* Dhillon has also been extremelycritical of the RNC’s practice of continuing to use some of the same political consultants who have been largely responsible for those losses. Naturally, those consultants are attackingDhillon is an effort to protect their sweetheart contracts.
* One such consultant in Nevada, JeremyHughes, did an interview this week going after Dhillon. Dhillon responded on Twitter, “Who is thispaid political operative who claims he met me once and is lying about me?”
* Lemme help: Hughes ran the campaignfor ex-Nevada "Republican" Gov. Brian Sandoval in 2014. Sandoval won and proceeded to shove the largest tax hike in state history down our throats
the following year.
* Hughes also ran the re-electioncampaign for ex-US Sen. Dean Heller in 2018. Heller, one of the original "Never Trumpers" in Nevada, went down in flames, flipping the seat from red to blue.
* Hughes then failed upward and landed agig running the Trump re-election campaign in Nevada in 2020. And we all know how THAT turned out.
* Hughes was also the campaign managerfor the GOP candidate in NV's 3rd congressional district this year. Guess how that turned out?
* McDaniel and McDonald aren’t badpeople. They’ve just failed in theparty’s #1 objective for the last several election cycles: Getting Republicans elected. Both need to be replaced, alongwith the professional consulting class that’s engineered those losses.
* Time for new blood; time to give new leadersa shot. And time for McDaniel to agree to a televised debate between her and Dhillon and Lindell. Has been done before on C-SPAN. Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reformhosted in 2011, and Tucker Carlson moderated.
* As of this morning, McDaniel hasrefused; saying she’ll only debate in front of the 168 RNC members. Not acceptable. ALL Republicans everywhere in the countryhave a stake in this race. We should ALL be able to see such a debate.
