*While most of the country is looking to the 2024 presidential election cycle,
voters in Kentucky, Louisiana and Mississippi will have gubernatorial elections
in 2023. KY & LA have Dem incumbent guvs; MI a GOPer. Those races could set the stage for 2024 fight for the White House and control of Congress.
* Reminder: The battle for control ofthe U.S. Senate in 2024 has the Democrats defending 23 seats (including one in Nevada) and Republicans only 10. If GOP can’t get back the majority in 2024 it’ll have no one but itself to blame.
* The race for Republican National Committee (RNC) chair is heating up, with California Republican National Committeewoman Harmeet Dhillon mounting a furious challenge to incumbent RNC boss Ronna McDaniel.
* McDaniel has ridden herd over three straight losing GOP election cycles dominated by concerns over election integrity. Dhillon is an election law attorney.
* Conservative influencers have been throwing their support behind Dhillon. They include Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham, Charlie Kirk, Mark Levin, Ben Shapiro, Megyn Kelly, Dan Bongino, Lou Dobbs, Kurt Schlichter and Erick Erickson.
* And more and more of the RNC’s 168 members have been coming out in favor of Dhillon, including a number previously in McDaniel’s camp. The question is whether Dhillon can swing a majority in time for the scheduled January 27 election.
* Where are Nevada’s three RNC members –Michael McDonald, Michele Fiore and Jim DeGraffenreid - in this important election? All three signed an initial letter of support for McDaniel after the November elections…but before the GOP was once again embarrassed in the Georgia U.S. Senate special election two weeks ago.
* Speaking of Fiore, the Nye County Commission on Tuesday appointed her to fill a Justice of the Peace vacancy despite only recently – and by that, I mean within just the last couple of
weeks – moving to Pahrump from Las Vegas.
* Fiore is a current member of the Las Vegas city council who lost her bid for State Treasurer last month.
* Following the appointment, liberal hate-monger and voting fraud denier Jon Ralston of the Nevada Independent blog felt it necessary to tweet some snark about the appointment.
* “Nye County, which hired an election denier as clerk, now has a non-lawyer, election denier, subject of FBI probe, medical genius who thinks cancer is a fungus and a gun enthusiast who bragged about packing on the bench as a judge. That's just the tip of her resume of
horribles.”
* Nice to see Fiore is still living rent-free in Jonny Jihad’s head.
* One last Fiore note: She is Nevada’s current Republican National Committeewoman and probably needs to resign from that partisan position in order to take this new judicial position. Likely sooner rather than later to duck any ethics issues.
* There’s a Nevada GOP Central Committee meeting scheduled for January 14 in Ely and a critical Republican National Committee (RNC) election for chairman coming up on January 27. Not sure if a replacement for Fiore will be made at 1/14 meeting if Fiore steps down.
* Fiore has announced her support for incumbent RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel who is facing a spirited challenge from California Republican National Committeewoman Harmeet Dhillon, as well as the MyPillow guy, Mike Lindell.
* Heard it through the grapevine: Manny Kess, who Fiore defeated in the June GOP primary for Treasurer, is said to be planning to run for one of Clark County’s commission seats that will be on the ballot in 2024.
FAMOUS LAST WORDS
“Former Las Vegas Councilwoman (Michele Fiore) unanimously appointed as justice of the
peace for Pahrump Justice Court after lengthy hearing before Nye County
commission. A big issue? Guns in courtroom. Fiore's unsurprisingly all for it.
Says she'll be armed behind the bench, and ‘if we get into a gunfight, I'll
probably win.’” – Las Vegas Review-Journal editor Steve Sebelius
“Fiore also drew headlines for a physical altercation at City Hall with fellow
Councilwoman Victoria Seaman, who later sued Fiore and the city over the
incident. But an independent investigation faulted both women for the fight,
and concluded that Seaman had begun the attack. Fiore told Nye County
commissioners that ‘I aggressively ended it (the fight).’” – Las VegasReview-Journal, 12/21/22
“I’m here to redefine what this party sees as victory. It means winning elections. …
Victory is our people in office making laws that protect our fundamental
liberties!” – RNC chair candidate Harmeet Dhillon at AmFest this week
“Participants of Turning Point Action's AmericaFest 2022 straw poll overwhelmingly voted for
a change in leadership of the Republican National Committee, as the majority of
respondents called for GOP lawyer Harmeet Dhillion to replace Ronna McDaniel as
party chair. Turning Point Action conducted a straw poll on Dec. 19, which polled 1,150 participants. The straw poll came after members of Turning Point Action's leadership endorsed Dhillon in her bid for GOP chair.” – FOX News, 12/20/22
