* And the drama that is the Clark County Republican Party continues…
* At the Trump rally in Las Vegas on Saturday, Trump supporters Jill Douglass and Johnny Bru were reportedly banned from getting in. Why?
* Hard to understand other than the fact that both are running for Clark County Republican Party chair on July 18 against incumbent Chairman Jesse Law.
* I have nothing against Jesse and don’t have a horse in this chairman’s race at this time. However…
* The fact remains, the Nevada Republican Party IS the Trump campaign in Nevada, including Jesse and other county GOP officials.
* They are so singularly obsessed with Trump getting the nomination that they’re putting their collective thumbs on the scale for Trump. So the other candidates aren’t playing on a level playing field.
* In addition, the sole focus on Trump means they’re not focusing on what they SHOULD be focusing on – which is the Nevada Legislature.
* If Dems flip just ONE Republican seat in the state Senate, they’ll have a super-majority there, along with the super-majority in the Assembly, and will have the power to override all 75 of Gov. Lombardo’s vetoes at the start of the 2025 session.
* Look, I get it. A presidential campaign is a lot more exciting and interesting to talk about than state legislative races. But it’s NOT more important.
* The future of Nevada doesn’t rest on the shoulders of Donald Trump getting re-elected. It simply doesn’t.
* If Trump wins the nomination, I’m voting for Trump in the general election.
* If DeSantis wins the nomination, I’m voting for DeSantis in the general election.
* If any of the other GOP candidates win the nomination, that’s who I’m voting for in the general election.
* Unless Liz Cheney gets into the race and miraculously wins the GOP nomination. Then all bets are off.
* The truth is, Nevada GOP Chairman Michael McDonald is a shill for Trump.
* So is Nevada GOP National Committeeman Jim DeGraffenreid.
* So is Nevada GOP National Committeewoman Sigal Chattah.
* So is Nevada GOP Executive Director Alida Benson.
* And so is Clark County GOP Chairman Jesse Law.
* And I wouldn’t have a problem with that … *IF*… the party had a fair pre-primary endorsement process in place and the Nevada Republican Central Committee had voted to endorse Trump.
* But it hasn’t.
* As for Jesse, he’s been an integral part of the Nevada GOP group that’s overseen three straight losing election cycles – including 2022 when he was Clark County chair.
* But it’s highly unlikely he’ll be ousted as long as the anti-Jesse contingent on the Central Committee splits its votes between the three challengers.
* There’s a debate being hosted by the Nevada Republican Club on Tuesday in which all four candidates are scheduled to participate.
* After the debate, the three challengers should squirrel themselves in a private room and not come out until they agree on the ONE candidate who will go head-to-head with Jesse, one-on-one, on July 18.
* Otherwise, meet the new boss; same as the old boss.
