* Democrats believe the GOP’s war on “woke” ideologies – particularly as it relates to the in-your-face trans-radical movement – turns off voters. But does it?
* Don’t be fooled. When Bud Light bone-headedly decided to make a trans-radical its spokesman, the electorate responded in spectacular fashion. Bud Light sales have plunged nationally by 29% and Anheuser-Busch’s stock has tanked by 15%.
* That ain’t just conservatives boycotting the swill. That’s Republicans, Democrats, independents, and everyone in between.
* Republicans hoping to unseat Democrats next year in districts where they need independent voters would do well to keep the focus on the purple-hair-and-nose-ring crowd.
* Americans of all stripes are tired of being lectured to about “diversity” and “equity” and “inclusion” (DEI). Frankly, they don’t care. They just want to be left alone. Live and let live.
* But “woke” corporate America isn’t having it.
* As Stephen Moore of the Committee to Unleash Prosperity notes in a recent column, Big Business is siding with Democrats on DEI and global warming while simultaneously fighting against international free trade.
* And is using its massive advertising budgets to shove that crud down our throats.
* In addition, as Moore notes, corporate America has sharply slashed its contributions to Republican candidates for Congress while funneling more dough to Democrats in swing districts.
* “The writing is on the wall,” Moore writes. “Corporate America is increasingly aligning itself with liberal Democrats.” And that “puts the GOP slim majority (in the House) in jeopardy.”
* “Maybe it’s time for a divorce,” Moore concludes.
* Instead, Republicans should focus on the 80 million small business owners around the country who can’t afford high-priced lobbyists and, as Alfredo Ortiz of the Job Creators Network notes, “just want to be left alone.”
* Small business owners wouldn’t need high-priced lobbyists if they’d just band together and invest a minimal amount of money to electing representatives to state and local offices who will have their backs.
* A $500 donation to a congressional campaign is like finding a penny on the sidewalk. Barely makes a difference. But $500 to a state legislative, city council, county commission, or local school board race can make all the difference in the world.
* And small businesses need to understand, as the old Fram Oil Filter commercials warned, you can pay now or pay later – through higher taxes, higher fees and greater government harassment and red tape.
* So let’s get started…
* One of the most anti-business government entities in Nevada is the Clark County Commission, currently featuring seven Democrats and not a single Republican.
* And one of the most anti-business Democrats on the Clark County Commission is former Secretary of State Ross Miller, son of former anti-business Gov. Bob Miller.
* Miller is only on the commission because he essentially “stole” it from current Lt. Gov. Stavros Anthony in 2020. He was installed after an election he “won” by just 15 votes despite the election department admitting there were 129 “discrepancies” in the election that it couldn’t account for.
* Republican April Becker is running against Miller next year.
* Becker has done yeoman’s work in challenging Senate Majority Leader Nicole Cannibizzaro in 2020 and the thoroughly unimpressive Rep. Susie Lee in 2022. She came up just short in both races but ran solid campaigns.
* April put herself through law school as a cocktail waitress and went on to build her own law practice. She “gets” small business because she IS small business.
* Maybe you can’t afford to pay $5,000 a month to retain a high-priced lobbyist to watch your back on the county commission. But how about $500, or $250 or even $100 so April can dethrone the Pampered Princeling and fight for you?
* Don’t wait. Don’t think about it. Just pull out your credit card right now – and yes, she can accept corporate contributions of up to $5,000 – and get some skin in the game.
* Don’t do it for April. Do it for yourself! Just click here.
* And yes, add April to my list of early endorsements. She’s the cream of the crop and the GOP’s best chance to get a Republican on the Clark County Commission.
