* Affirmative action is alive and well in the Land of Fruits & Nuts.
* Should California U.S. Sen. Diane Feinstein be wheeled out of our nation’s Capitol before finishing her term, Gov. Gavin Newsom says he’ll appoint a black woman to replace her.
* So much for picking someone based on their experience, qualifications, and content of their character. Identity politics rules.
* In case you missed it, Democrat New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham declared a state of “emergency” this week and banned open and concealed-carry guns for 30 days.
* To “slow the spread” I assume?
* Rep. Tom Massie responded: “She’s nuts, but she’s taking what the tyrants did during COVID (forced jabs, travel bans, closed businesses, suppressed speech - with no laws passed) to the next level.”
* Considering this – and what ex-Gov. Steve Sisolak did to Nevada during COVID – it’s critical that the Nevada Legislature pass legislation to limit the executive powers a governor can exercise in the state, under the guise of an “emergency,” without legislative approval.
* Speaking of which…
* When Hurricane Hilary threatened Nevada two weeks ago, Gov. Lombardo issued a “State of Emergency” and put disaster preparations in place. On Friday, now that the immediate the threat is gone, the governor cancelled his emergency order.
* If only Sisolak had done the same with COVID instead of abusing his powers for almost three years.
* While I haven’t heard it straight from the horse’s mouth yet, I have it on good authority that former Nevada State senator and former North Las Vegas mayor John Lee has quietly been advising people that he’s “in” for the 4th Congressional District race to take on incumbent Democrat Rep. Steve Horsford.
* Lee would face off against a nominal Republican in the primary and would give the GOP it’s best chance to flip this seat. Wouldn’t be surprised if a formal announcement comes out later this week.
* With the addition of Republican Assemblywoman Heidi Kasama in the 3rd Congressional District against Dem incumbent Rep. Susie Lee, the GOP’s chances of turning one or both of these blue seats red jumps markedly.
FAMOUS LAST WORDS
“9-11. This is a somber day. We say: ‘Never forget.’ But much of America has done exactly that. … We were complacent because, after all, we live in America, fat ‘n happy ‘n comfortable, and nobody would dare come here to kill thousands of us. Right? As hard as it is to recognize, we have grown even more complacent than when we let 9-11 happen!
“We are complacently accepting as ‘new norms’ all sorts of attacks like the control of all our major cities handed over to violent criminals, our border open, our national spending and debt skyrocketing to impossible levels, our public education system failing, our military made ‘woke’ instead of ready.
“Things like the secret Chinese bio-weapons lab discovered under our noses in California – to nominal notice. Little outrage. We are very complacent. Fat ‘n happy ‘n busy and unrealistically sure nothing bad is going to happen to us.”
