* In yesterday’s regular edition of Muth’s Truths, I noted that Nevada Democrat legislators were infected with “Teachers Union Rabies” which is why they so adamantly object to school choice.
* A rather clever Muth’s Truths reader – who would prefer to remain anonymous – suggested the condition would be better identified as “Teachers Union Rabies Disease” – or T.U.R.D.
* Perfect! These anti-school choice Democrats are indeed full of TURDs.
* At the Keystone annual lunch in Las Vegas on Wednesday, Gov. Lombardo was asked whether he’d consider re-instituting former Gov. Sisolak’s mask mandate if COVID spikes again this season.
* I don’t think his answer leaves much room for misinterpretation: “HELL, NO!”
* The governor also gave a shout-out to former North Las Vegas Mayor John Lee – who ran against Lombardo in the gubernatorial primary last year – and suggested Lee would be making some kind of announcement in the near future.
* I believe that announcement is going to be that Lee will be running for Congress against Democrat incumbent Rep. Steve Horsford in CD4. Hope so. Lee is probably the best GOP candidate out there who could flip this seat.
* When asked in a separate interview who he’d like to see perform the halftime show at the Super Bowl in Las Vegas next year, Gov. Lombardo said: AC/DC. Can think of a lot worse.
* Twitter shut down the Never Back Down PAC yesterday morning – which is run by Adam Laxalt and is supporting the presidential campaign of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis - after somebody allegedly reported their account as “spam.”
* I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that the shutdown occurred on the same day as last night’s GOP presidential candidate debate. And I’m sure it wasn’t supporters of another prez campaign that reported the PAC.
* And I’m sure Bidenomics is doing great things for our economy.
* The big loser at the debate last night, in my opinion, was FOX News.
* This was a REPUBLICAN PRIMARY debate. Nevertheless, the moderators insisted on asking questions about global warming, homelessness and…UFO’s?
* Tell me what Republican primary voters have those issues at the top of their list in deciding which candidate to support. The Republican National Committee (RNC) needs to fix this going forward.
* Prior to the debate last night, I hosted a meet-and-greet for Republican Assemblywoman Heidi Kasama – who announced this week that she’s running for Nevada’s 3rd congressional district seat next year – in the lounge at Vic’s restaurant.
* My friend and right-to-life champ Melissa Clement was first to arrive. And she told me someone was out front handing out anti-Kasama literature. That didn’t bother me, but I was interested in reading what was on the flyer.
* So I walked out front door, and the guy immediately took off like a rocket, running down the street for a full block before disappearing inside the Children’s Museum.
* A little while later, more guests arrived and let me know he was back – but they didn’t grab a copy of his flyer. So I went outside again. He immediately got defensive: “I have a right to be here!”
* Dude, fine. I just want to see what’s on the flyer. Knock yourself out.
* I love protestors at my events. Tells me I’m over the target or got under somebody’s skin. Turns out the flyer was filled with a bunch of “RINO” stuff being put out by Kasama’s primary opponent, Drew Johnson.
* Johnson, who lost his bid for a county commission seat last year, is running for CD3 as the most conservative Jim Marchant/Sigal Chattah candidate in the race. And you know what? He is.
* But CD3 has a big Democrat-majority. So while Johnson may be the most conservative, Kasama is the most conservative who can WIN.
* Johnson should be running against Democrat Assembly Speaker Steve “Donut Boy” Yeager. But his ego won’t let him “lower” himself to starting at the bottom of the ladder. For Drew, it’s not about what he wants to do; it’s about what he wants to be.
* Anyway, a little later I went back outside, gave our protestor a glass of water, and asked his name. He told me “George.” But when I went back inside, someone there told me they recognized him and his name was actually “Neil.”
* Why he lied about his name…who knows?
* Side note: Heidi brought her husband, Peter, to the event. Had never met him before. He immigrated here from Japan and is a dead ringer for Mr. Miyagi from the Karate Kid movie.
* The funny thing is, he’s never seen the movie. Nevertheless, he’s been mistaken for Miyagi so often that joked with us all and imitated the “wax on, wax off” hand gesture.
* What a neat guy. Hope you all get to run into him sometime.
FAMOUS LAST WORDS
“Nevada’s third-in-the-nation presidential contest has thus far garnered about as much attention from the candidates and the national media as the cabbage awarded a third-place ribbon at this summer’s Iowa State Fair.” – Columnist Hugh Jackson
