Muth's Truths PLUS+

* This is interesting and likely coming to Nevada sometime down the road…

* The California GOP is basically on the political endangered species list. For Republicans, Cali isn’t just a blue state, it’s a black-and-blue state.

* Yes, there are still small pockets where Republicans can win, but statewide, it’s a killing field.

* As such, the California Republican Party will consider a proposal next month “to nix certain anti-abortion and same-sex marriage positions from the state party's platform in an apparent move to resonate with more voters.”

* As Nevada has become a purple state and leaning blue, it’ll be interesting to see if the Nevada GOP moves in this direction in an effort to win more races. And if it does, I wonder how pro-lifers and social conservatives will respond?

* Puts them in a very difficult position: Stand on principle or embrace reality. A political Kobayashi Maru.

* On Friday, Nevada Republican National Committeewoman Sigal Chattah referred to Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy as “a naïve beauty queen.” I don’t think she quite understands her party leadership role.

* Speaking of Ramaswamy, I think we all know he will not be the next President of the United States. But with campaign messaging like this from a tweet on Saturday, I can see why he’s captured the attention of many conservatives…

1. God is real
2. There are two genders
3. Human flourishing requires fossil fuels
4. Reverse racism is racism
5. An open border is no border
6. Parents determine the education of their children
7. The nuclear family is the greatest form of governance known to mankind
8. Capitalism lifts people up from poverty
9. There are three branches of the U.S. government, not four
10. The U.S. Constitution is the strongest guarantor of freedoms in history

* I’m assuming he’s talking about the media – the so-called “fourth estate” – in #9. If so, I wholeheartedly agree.

* For many Republican voters, Donald Trump was an acquired taste. Took a while to warm up to him. By the same token, getting many of his supporters to abandon ship is going to take time, as well.

* As long as Trump is being attacked in the courts by the left, many aren’t about to leave him in the lurch. But it appears the Indictment Parade is now over. And there’s still five months to go before voting begins.

* As Yogi Berra said, it ain’t over ‘til it’s over.

* In an editorial today, the Las Vegas Review-Journal notes that while Clark County’s population has increased by 8 percent since 2017, enrollment in Clark County’s public schools has shrunk each year.

* Where have the children gone?

* Well, according to research from Stanford University, some 14% of students nationwide have switched to private schools, while another 26% opted for homeschooling since the government shut down the public schools during COVID.

* In other words, the government threw kids out of the public schools and many of them simply haven’t come back.

* This would help explain why Nevada’s “George Wallace” Democrats have dug in their heels and are trying to lock kids in public school failure factories rather than throw them a lifeline by expanding Opportunity Scholarships.

* But the toothpaste is out of the tube. COVID forced many parents to find alternatives to public schools, and the more those schools continue to fail our kids, the more kids will find a way to escape.

* Will close out today with something REALLY important…

* The Henderson All Stars have taken the field in the Little League World Series. They win, they play on. They lose, they come home.

* And it got me wondering: How many LLWS players went on to play in the major leagues since the event started in 1954. Answer: 64.

* That includes one of my favorite players growing up and going to Baltimore Orioles games: Boog Powell. The “Booger” also played in the MLB World Series. Very exclusive club.

* Let’s go, Hendo!

FAMOUS LAST WORDS

“Only a Democrat could love how the Nevada Republican Party is handling its role in the presidential selection process. … (T)he Nevada Republican Party has made the process extremely convoluted in an apparent effort to legally rig the election for the Trump campaign. Little wonder so few presidential candidates have bothered to show up here.” – Columnist Victor Joecks
