Muth's Truths PLUS+

11/05/2023

* Good news for Donald Trump this morning. A new New York Times/Siena College poll shows him defeating Joe Biden in next year’s general election in five out of six “swing” states – including Nevada – “which would likely be enough to give him the 270 electoral votes needed to win.”

* The NYT notes that the results “seem to be more a reflection of Biden’s weakness than Trump’s strength. Trump is just as unpopular as he was when he lost the election three years ago, if not slightly more so.”

* Still, despite such early polling being pretty much meaningless – a LOT can happen between now and Election Day – the Trump campaign and the liberal media that would love to see a Biden/Trump rematch will tout these results to counter the argument that Trump is not electable in the general election.

* But keep your eyes on Iowa. If DeSantis wins, or even comes close, in the Iowa caucus, all bets would be off going into South Carolina and Super Tuesday. And word on the street today is that popular Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds is on the verge of endorsing DeSantis, maybe as soon as tonight.

* Also, keep your eyes on Ohio on Tuesday. Issue 1 on the ballot “would change the state’s Constitution to provide the right for every person to ‘make and carry out one’s own reproductive decisions’ before a fetus is viable outside the womb (usually around 23 or 24 weeks of pregnancy).”

* If it passes in Ohio, you can bet the pro-abortion gang will push hard for a similar constitutional amendment in Nevada next year to use as a wedge issue against Republicans.

* A new poll by the Tarrance Group – and extremely competent polling firm – shows incumbent Democrat U.S. Jacky Rosen up on expected Republican opponent Sam Brown, 45-40 percent.

* In other words, striking distance for Brown.

* In the GOP primary, Brown pulled 24%, with serial loser Jim Marchant coming in second with 9%, Air Force test pilot Tony Grady with 5%, and “Trump” candidate Jeff Gunter with just 1%.

* 41% of GOP voters in this primary race remain undecided. That gives challengers to Brown a lot of opportunity, but the window is closing quickly. Unless something dramatic happens soon, Brown will be perceived as inevitable as the Republican nominee and the undecideds will start to flock to him.

* Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo has appointed Scott Scherer to fill a vacancy on the Nevada Ethics Commission. I worked with Scott many moons ago on a school choice ballot initiative. He’s smart, competent, and extremely professional.

* Another excellent appointment by a governor focused on “getting sh*t done.”

* Last week, Gov. Lombardo signed onto a letter to the NCAA with 8 other GOP guvs urging the organization to ban biological men from competing against – not to mention showering with – women in college sports.

* Naturally, the alphabet soup gang over at LGBLTQRSABC+ had a cow. Andre Wade of Silver State Equity told the Las Vegas Sun that Lombardo’s signature on the letter “appears to demonstrate a misunderstanding of the science and social issues surrounding transgender youth in sports.”

* First, we’re talking about college athletes. Meaning adults, not “youth.” Meaning grown men towel-snapping women on the butt in locker rooms.

* Secondly, there’s no misunderstanding of the “science” here. Biological men are built differently from biological women. It’s in all the scientific biology textbooks. As the little kid in “Kindergarten Cop” so scientifically put it, “Boys have a penis, girls have a vagina.”

* If sub-par biological men can’t compete successfully against talented biological men, the answer isn’t to allow them to compete against women. It’s to allow them to compete against other sub-par biological men.

* I’m sure CNN would be happy to broadcast the “Tranny Olympics.”

* The Culinary Union thugs are once again trying to extort Nevada’s gaming resorts by threatening a strike right before the upcoming inaugural F1 race on the Strip. Vito Corleone and Tony Soprano must be smiling from their coffins.

* The union kneecap-crackers are demanding an almost 50% raise.

* Some gullible saps are feeling sorry for these hotel workers, defaulting to their anti-business bias. But one brave Culinary worker, Peter Kinsley, put the reality of the situation in perspective in a letter-to-the-editor published on Sunday by the Las Vegas Sun…

“All I hear is what the companies don’t provide their employees. But we get all kinds of benefits, such as 100% company-paid pension, 100% company-paid health insurance, 100% paid company housing down payment assistance, free food, tuition reimbursement for us and our children.

* Mr. Kinsley continued…

“We spend 15% of our day sitting on our butts, on break, getting paid. I get over eight hours paid time off for every 80 hours I work. They even do our laundry free of charge.”

* It’s not our resorts that are greedy. It’s the Culinary Union.

* An individual with just under 1,200 followers on Twitter – meaning, she’s not just some “troll” or “bot” – asked in response to my latest post about the Nevada GOP’s upcoming “chaos caucus” if the non-presidential nominations would be decided at the caucus on February 8 along with the presidential nomination.

* Um, no. The regular primary for down-ballot races will be held in June.

* And if the average voter doesn’t even understand THAT, what are the odds they’ll understand getting their mail-in primary ballots in January which will NOT include Donald Trump’s or Ron DeSantis’ names?

* If this mess turns out to be every bit the political disaster it portends to be next February 8th, all three of the Nevada GOP’s elected leaders – Chairman Michael McDonald, National Committeeman Jim DeGriftenreid, and National Committeewoman Sigal “Hang ‘em from a Crane” Chattah should resign on February 9th.

* They won’t.
