* GOP candidates for prez are being required to sign a “Beat Biden” pledge in order to appear in any debates hosted by the Republican National Committee (RNC). The pledge includes a commitment to support whoever the eventual nominee is.
* So far four candidates have inked the pledge: Ron DeSantis, Tim Scott, Nikki Haley, and Vivek Ramaswamy. Mike Pence has publicly said he intends to sign it. Conspicuously absent from the list: Donald Trump.
* Earlier this week, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis removed another Soros-backed “woke” prosecutor from office for refusing to prosecute criminals. DeSantis said he has “no doubt” his action was “consistent with the constitution and laws of Florida.”
* In making the announcement DeSantis noted that State Attorney Monique Worrell has “allowed murderers, other violent offenders, and dangerous drug traffickers to receive extremely reduced sentences and escape the full consequences of their criminal conduct.”
* What conservative Republican wouldn’t cheer this move? Well, Seb Gorka, a staunch Trump supporter, for one. He X-tweeted: “Why hasn’t he (DeSantis) been investigated for this?”
* What? When did self-professed conservative Republicans decide to join with Democrats and back Goerge Soros over a Republican governor who removed a soft-on-crime social justice warrior? I must have missed a memo.
* So far in 2023, five elected state legislators nationwide have switched their party affiliation from Democrat to Republican. Only two state lawmakers switched parties in all of 2022.
* Rep. Tricia Cotham of North Carolina switched from D to R back in April. “The modern-day Democratic Party has become unrecognizable to me and to so many others throughout this state and this country."
* True. But don’t expect to see any such moves here in East California. Democrats here are part of what has made the Democrat Party unrecognizable to old-school Dems.
* CNN's Jonah Goldberg said this week that "Small donors are actually one of the biggest problems for democracy and the GOP.”
* Goldberg apparently believes only mega-donors should be weighing in with their wallets on which Republican candidates the riff-raff should support. Let’s just say I strongly disagree.
* Republican U.S. Senate candidate and serial loser Jim Marchant decided to go after fellow GOP Senate candidate Sam Brown last weekend for failing to endorse Donald Trump in the Republican presidential primary.
* Why would he? Why should he? Brown is running for the Senate. He has his own race to worry about.
* Marchant – or his incompetent consultant, Woody Johnston – also took complete credit for Trump’s success in Nevada, writing…
“I have always openly and proudly supported and endorsed President Trump through thick and thin. If we have a strong and powerful MAGA army in Nevada, it is because of the work I and my America First supporters have put in ever since I was elected to the Assembly in 2016.”
* Good grief.
* Indeed, Trump’s support is significant in Nevada. But the idea that it’s because of Marchant and his supporters is the kind of delusion you get from eating psychedelic mushrooms.
* Marchant was indeed elected to the Assembly in 2016. He proceeded to then lose his re-election campaign in 2018, lose his bid for Congress in 2020, and then lose his bid for Secretary of State in 2020.
* Marchant and Woody Woodpeckerhead also can’t see the writing on the wall. Wrapping your arms in a loving embrace of Trump might help in the GOP primary, but Marchant got his clock cleaned doing so in the general last year.
* We’re not in Kansas anymore, Toto. Nevada is a “purple” state that Trump has now lost THREE times. Marchant is now positioned to exceed that record.
* There’s no such thing as a free lunch. Yet the lefties are in high dudgeon over Gov. Lombardo’s veto of a bill extending “free” lunches to every student in Nevada’s public schools.
* Why should taxpayers pick up the lunch tab for kids from wealthy families? And why do libs support giving food “vouchers” to students in public schools but not privately funded scholarships so kids can go to the school of their choice?
* Because the teachers union sez do, that’s why.
