Muth's Truths PLUS+

9/29/2023

* Attended a fundraising event last night for the Assembly Republican Caucus in Henderson. Good turnout. These folks are committed to getting out of the super-minority and moving forward to reclaiming the majority down the road.

* Met a number of promising prospective candidates. And always a pleasure running into Lt. Gov. Stavros Anthony.

* Multiple GOP Assembly members asked me to again express their appreciation to all of you who kicked in $15.24 (15 seats in 2024) to help them get the ball rolling. They even presented me with a special $15.24 t-shirt in gratitude…

* It’s on! Let’s get this sh*t done.

* The Nevada Globe reported this week that Clark County School District (CCSD) Superintendent Jesus Jara signed a pledge acknowledging that “our education professionals are best qualified to make decisions regarding materials included in their classrooms and libraries.”

* THIS is one of his “education professionals.”

* The pledge was submitted to him by Nichole Beer, a “pan queer” teacher-librarian at a Las Vegas elementary school who refers to the parental rights group Moms for Liberty as domestic terrorists and described them as “just poor white womens feminism.”

* THIS is one of her “domestic terrorists.”

* Nevada Republicans in the State Senate need to hold all three competitive seats up next year to stay out of a super-minority. One of those seats is currently held by Scott Hammond, who is termed out.

* Conservative Assemblyman Richard McArthur, also termed out, has already announced for the seat. But I heard last night a new candidate with high name ID and support will be jumping into the race, maybe as early as today.

* The Club for Growth Foundation has a fellowship program “to train people on how to advance their causes in local or state Republican politics.” It’s pretty intense, as detailed in this Washington Examiner story about last week’s meeting.

* Our own former Nevada State Assemblywoman Annie Black was selected for the program. Anyone who thinks Annie is gonna just ride off into the sunset doesn’t know Annie Black.

* The Nye County GOP has passed a new rule requiring all Central Committee members to sign a “non-disclosure agreement” (NDA). So much for transparency. Click here for report.

* The reviews are in for GOP Debate #2. Consensus: DeSantis won. And that got the Trump campaign’s knickers in a knot.

* Trump spokesman Steven Cheung tweeted that DeSantis was “delusional” for challenging Trump to a one-on-one debate and suggested he needed to be “committed to a medical facility for a proper mental evaluation.”

* Cheung went on to claim DeSantis was “slathering on makeup during commercial breaks” at the debate.

* Noting the DeSantis campaign’s criticism of Trump not being able to answer the question “Can a man be a woman?” in a recent interview, Cheung added, “Maybe they should ask their own candidate for an answer.”

* Ah, how to win friends and influence people. These are exactly the kinds of personal attacks Reagan warned against.

* And for the record, DeSantis WAS asked the question last week. His quick, one-word response: “No.”

* DeSantis also again threw down the gauntlet today: “Trump has had a lot to say about me on social media. It’s one thing to do it behind a keyboard. Step up on stage and say it to my face.”

* Felecia Dorchuck, one of our board members, replied: “Greg Gutfeld moderating DeSantis vs. Trump - in the Sphere! With live video of it running on the outside. THERE'S a ticket I'd buy!!”

* #MeToo

FAMOUS LAST WORDS

"It’s a two-man race at this point. I believe DeSantis will surprise in Iowa and New Hampshire, and it will completely reset the conversation. I am not paid to promote anyone, I call it as I see it." – Political commentator Rob Smith
