* “Tax the rich, feed the poor, ‘til there are no poor no more.” Those were the lyrics of a popular 1971 song by Ten Years After. It also seems to be the slogan for anti-business liberals hellbent on income redistribution.

* On Tax Day this year, a group of “Patriotic Millionaires” showed up in DC demanding higher taxes on wealthy individuals – tax confiscation rates as high as 90 percent. But our friend Steve Moore of the Committee to Unleash Prosperity turned the tables on them and called their bluff.

* He attended the rally and asked the red-white-and-blue money-grubbers how many of them would VOLUNTARILY cough up higher taxes without being forced to by the government since they were so “patriotic.”

* Surprise, surprise. Not one taker. Leading Mr. Moore to conclude…

“I love my country, and I’m also against raising tax rates on anyone – rich or poor. There. I said it. What I am for is letting people keep as much of the rewards for their labor as possible. That’s not being greedy or unpatriotic. It’s being smart. And it’s what makes America great.”

* What he said.

* Adam Laxalt’s super-PAC promoting Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ inevitable presidential run is turning its guns on former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, hoping to damage her candidacy so the GOP presidential primary remains a two-way race between DeSantis and former President Donald Trump.

* Just a year ago, Laxalt endorsed Trump…before jumping ship and taking over the DeSantis PAC. He’s unofficially joined former House Speaker Paul Ryan’s “Never Again Trump” brigade.

* Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell sees the GOP path back into the Senate majority running through West Virginia, Ohio and Montana in 2024. No mention of Nevada. Always a bridesmaid; never a bride.

* One of the reasons for Nevada not being at the top of the list is the fact that we’re a “purple” state and Laxalt failed to unseat incumbent Democrat Sen. Catherine Cortez-Masto-Reid last November.

* The other reason is the fact that Nevada doesn’t yet have a serious Senate candidate in the race.

* The three currently being most talked about are Sam Brown, who challenged Laxalt in the GOP primary last year, April Becker, who challenged Democrat incumbent Rep. Susie Lee last year, and Tony Grady, who ran for lieutenant governor in the GOP primary last year.

* There’s also Stephanie Phillips, who’s running for office for the first time and whose campaign Nevada Republican National Committeewoman Sigal Chattah endorsed back on April 7…

“Nevada has its first GOP candidate for US Senate and I’m so proud of her for stepping up! Let’s show her some love and help this girl out!”

* Meanwhile, back at the ranch…

* Dave Crete is on a mission to get federal compensation for military veterans “who were exposed to toxic chemicals” at the Nevada Test Site. He’s working with Rep. Mark Amodei on drafting legislation in Congress. You can read more about the effort by clicking here.

* Crete is also a former Republican Party chairman for Maricopa County, AZ before moving to Las Vegas. He’s now running for the same position in Clark County. The election is scheduled for July.

* Also running for the position is Jill Douglass, President of Battle Born Republican Women. Incumbent Chairman Jesse Law is seeking re-election.

* While there is serious unrest among the natives at the Clark County GOP with the current leadership, should Crete and Douglass split the anti-Law vote, odds are Law will be re-elected for another two-year term.

* Crete and Douglass need to go have coffee together.

* Conservative Nevada State Sen. Jeff Stone (R-Clark) got his “Rex’s Law” bill (SB322) passed out of the Senate unanimously. The bill increases the penalties for reckless driving. It now goes to the Assembly where it should similarly be passed overwhelmingly, if not unanimously.

* The Legislature is considering a bill to dramatically cut the amount of water used by homeowners while simultaneously allowing the development of new housing projects. It makes no sense – unless they’re misleading us about how bad the water shortage really is.

* Who else wants to see Tucker Carlson selected to moderate one of the GOP’s upcoming presidential debates?
