Muth's Truths PLUS+

07/31/2023

* I still haven’t gotten over the anti-American antics of the U.S. Women’s soccer team led by clown-haired “star” Megan Rapinoe.

* As such, I was rooting against ‘em in Thursday’s game against the Netherlands and will be rooting against them again tonight vs. Portugal. Since they tied the Dutch in that game, if they lose tonight, they’re out.

* Sorry, not sorry.

* What can YOU do to fight global warming? John Kerry weighs in…

“Agriculture contributes about 33% of all the emissions of the world. And we can’t get to net zero—we don’t get this job done—unless agriculture is front and center as part of the solution. You just can’t continue to both warm the planet, while also expecting to feed it. It doesn’t work. So we have to reduce emissions from the food system."

* So all you have to do to fight global warming is…STOP EATING!

* What a goofball.

* In the “blue” city of Washington, DC, murders and carjackings are way up, with July being a particularly bloody month – 22 homicides as of Friday. The city council is made up of 13 members – eleven Democrats and two independents.

* I think we’ve found the problem.

* Meanwhile, the NAACP has urged the “blue” city of Oakland, CA, to declare a state of emergency due to the skyrocketing crime there, calling it a “crisis.”

* Get this: The race-baiting organization blames the “failed leadership” of city and county elected officials, as well as “the movement to defund the police” and the district attorney’s “unwillingness to charge and prosecute people who murder and commit life-threatening serious crimes,” as well as “the proliferation of anti-police rhetoric.”

* Gee, who could have seen that coming?

* By the way, every member of the Oakland city council is a Democrat.

* The first GOP presidential debate is scheduled for August 23 in Milwaukee, WI. Candidates who have met the Republican National Committee’s (RNC) requirements to be on the stage as of today: Donald Trump, Ron DeSantis, Tim Scott, Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, Chris Christie, and Doug Burgum.

* Noticeably absent so far for the qualifier list: former Vice President Mike Pence.

* Meanwhile, Trump has now called on all the other GOP candidates to drop out and anoint him the party’s nominee by default. “Every dollar spent attacking me by Republicans is a dollar given straight to the Biden campaign,” he said today.

* In typical Trump fashion, he called his opponents “clowns” and accused them of “wasting hundreds of millions of dollars” that could be used to unseat Biden next year.

* In unrelated news, it was reported over the weekend that Trump’s PAC has spent over $40 million of donors’ money on legal fees defending the former president from a variety of legal problems in the first six months of this year.

* The mounting legal fees are so substantial, it’s been reported that Trump’s PAC requested the return of some $60 million it donated to a separate Trump PAC, signaling “a potential money crisis for the campaign.”

* No wonder Trump wants all the other candidates to drop out.

* In one of those legal actions, a Trump-appointed judge on Friday dismissed a Trump lawsuit against CNN, ruling “the former president’s defamation claims failed because the references were opinions and not factual statements.”

* I’m old enough to remember back in 2016 when Trump declared that “We’re going to win so much you’re going to get tired of winning.” Ah, the good ol’ days.

* Meanwhile, the Republican State Leadership Committee – which is focused on electing Republicans to state legislative seats around the country – raised a record $15.6 million in the first six months of this year.

* Hope they send some of that dinero to Nevada!

* Follow-up on today’s Muth’s Truths about U.S. Senate candidate Sam Brown’s email solicitations…

* My criticism was that Sam’s focusing way too much on himself and his war injury story and not enough on how Nevadans will benefit if he’s elected. His messaging should be more about how *we* benefit from his election than how he benefits.

And it’s not difficult to change the wording around to make it more about us than him. A sharp reader emailed me an example from Hillary Clinton’s campaign a few years ago. He noted that instead of messaging “I’m with Her,” she should have messaged “She’s with Me.”

* Small change; HUGE difference. Sam needs to do the same.

FAMOUS LAST WORDS

“I’m not anti-Trump. I like Trump. I also know more Americans are actually anti-Trump than are anti-Biden. I’m pro-winning and I’m pro-conservative. I like DeSantis more in this primary for that and his track record of legislative successes.” – Chris Loesch
