* Another early endorsement: David Brog for Assembly District 37.
* Brog ran for the first time in 2022 for Nevada’s 1st congressional district seat currently being misrepresented by Democrat Congress-critter Dina “I’m Not Happy” Titus; coming in second in the GOP primary to nominee Mark Robertson.
* He’s president of the conservative Edmund Burke Foundation and is the Nevada co-chair of Term Limits USA. Prior to that he was the executive director of Christians United for Israel, from its founding in 2006 until 2015.
* Prior to that he worked in the United States Senate as chief of staff to Senator Arlen Specter, as well as director of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
* He’s a graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Law School, as well as the author of three books on Israel and Judeo-Christian relations. And he organized a delegation of conservative Nevadans for the Western Conservative Summit I attended in Denver two weeks ago.
* He’s a doer, not a talker. His bona fides are impeccable. He’s well connected in political circles, especially back in DC. He has loads of experience in fundraising from heading his nonprofit. And he certainly has that “gravitas” thing down.
* David mulling another run at Congress. But I explained how much we REALLY need good, strong conservatives in the Legislature who are willing to be the opposition party instead of the minority party.
* In addition, AD37 is the #1 pick-up opportunity in the Assembly, where Republicans need to flip just one seat to get out of the super-minority and be in a position to block tax hikes and defend Gov. Lombardo’s 75 (!) vetoes in the next session.
* Ultimately, David decided to run for AD37 instead of CD1.
* I’ve heard rumors of others looking at that race – including the wife of State Controller Andy Matthews. But none even come close to David’s resume, background, ability, and experience. He’s the guy…and the others should look at different races so he doesn’t have to waste resources in a contested primary.
* We NEED this seat. Let’s not blow it for a change.
* There are other rumors floating around that former Assemblywoman Annie Black – now my Executive Vice President at Citizen Outreach – is mulling a primary for her old seat against freshman GOP Assemblyman Toby Yurek.
* Selfishly, I want her to stick with us. But running again isn’t off the table.
* The pro-abortion crowd is in high dudgeon after it was discovered yesterday that Gov. Lombardo removed from the website of the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services a warning issued by former Gov. Sisolak against Crisis Pregnancy Centers (CPC).
* CPC’s are organizations dedicated to helping pregnant women choose life over abortion. But the language in the warning accused CPC’s of “deceptive practices” and not providing “comprehensive, accurate, or evidence-based information.”
* “Governor Lombardo was concerned by the mischaracterization and politicization of crisis pregnancy centers on a government website,” Lombardo spokesperson Elizabeth Ray said in a statement. “He believes crisis pregnancy centers offer critical resources, support, and care for pregnant women in Nevada.”
* Melissa Clement of Nevada Right to Life said, “It is a relief to finally have a governor who does not see himself as the marketing department of Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers.”
* Amen.
* Make no mistake, NV GOP National Committeewoman Sigal Chattah still enjoys support among some on the Central Committee even as others express concern that she’s basically hijacked the operation from Chairman Michael McDonald and is running it into a ditch with her mouth.
* Chelsy Fischer – unbelievably a member of the Nye County School Board - twit-tweeted the following last Saturday (Warning: potty mouth ahead)…
“We give @Chattah4Nevada our full support. As a member of the central committee, I also say FUCK Lombardo. Add me to the deranged list of needing an exorcism.”
* And some say Chattah’s “Lombardo Derangement Syndrome” virus isn’t contagious?
