* A convicted murderer serving a “life” sentence in Philadelphia for killing his ex-girlfriend – and who is suspected in a separate 2017 murder in Brazil – escaped a week ago.

* For those anti-death penalty folks out there, I’ll only point out that no convicted murderer who has been executed has ever escaped from prison or went on to kill or harm anyone else.

* Saves a bundle on room-and-board, too.

* Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie criticized Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, also a GOP prez candidate, for not meeting with President Joe Biden during post-hurricane
clean-up efforts; telling FOX News that DeSantis’ “job as governor is to be the
tour guide for the president.”

* Um, no it isn’t. It’s to help his constituents recover from the damage, which he has done admirably. If only all governors were this competent in handling a crisis.

* Of course, what Christie is really trying to do here is tarnish his opponent they way he was tarnished after he gave a loving embrace to then-President Obama during a similar damage tour when he was governor of New Jersey in 2012…

* The pair’s “bromance” was used against Christie in the 2016 GOP presidential race. Now he wants to similarly tar DeSantis. But DeSantis is a lot smarter than Christie.

* The American Conservative Union has ranked each state Legislature from most conservative to least conservative. Nevada is the 14th most liberal. This is what Republican Gov. Lombardo is dealing with.

* It’s clear the Clark County teachers union (CCEA) is conducting a “rolling strike” – even though they’re not calling it that. But three schools this week had to shut down regular operations because too many teachers didn’t show up to work.

* Even the Sun, as liberal as the day is long, refuses to give the union cover, referring to the “work action” as a “tragedy,” “selfish,” and “greedy.”

* In an editorial on Thursday, the paper accused union leaders of being “more interested in serving their own interests than those of the teachers they’re supposed to represent.”

* Welcome to the party, pal.

* It went on to refer to union boss John Vellardita as a “chaos agent” who is guilty of “bad faith negotiating tactics” and declared that “for the teachers who intentionally called out of
work, they are strikes, and they are illegal.”

* When you’ve lost the Las Vegas Sun…

* Back on August 26, the paper featured this photo of a union member getting tossed out of school board meeting…

* Look at those crazy, hate-filled eyes. The man is deranged. Would you want your kids being taught by a nutcase like this? Is it any surprise that the Clark County schools are the worst in the nation?

* The number of registered Democrats in Nevada shrunk by 936 voters in August while the number of registered Republicans shrunk by 89. Democrats now outnumber Republicans by fewer than 50,000 voters statewide.

* The Nevada Globe reported yesterday that Republican Jon Petrick will be running again next year in Assembly District 21 (Clark) against incumbent Elaine Marzola. This is a
“swing” district that Petrick lost last time by about five percent.

* Stan Olsen, recently appointed to the Nevada Ethics Commission, was asked about his vote against the politically-motivated BS complaint filed against Gov. Lombardo for using photos
in his sheriff’s uniform during the campaign last year.

* Olsen’s response is a classic: “I just don’t talk to reporters on the phone, or really, even in
person.”
