* THIS JUST IN: Members of the Assembly Republican Caucus have finally reportedly come to an agreement to officially endorse candidates. No idea what the details are or timeline is, but this is good (belated) news.
* Happy Ronald Reagan Day!
* Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo joined 25 other state governors in issuing an official proclamation today honoring the late president.
* Grover Norquist, chairman of the Reagan Legacy Project, wrote today…
“Ronald Reagan created the modern Republican party of limited government, low taxes, and a strong national defense. He used that party to change the nation. And then he changed the world.”
* It’s also Presidential Preference Primary election day.
* The big question to look for tonight is whether Nikki Haley wins or “None of These Candidates” wins in the GOP primary.
* When I checked Google this morning and entered “Nevada primary confusion,” I got back 15,800 results. Heckuva black eye Nevada GOP!
* I was on NBC Nightly News (starts around the 16:30-minute mark) tonight about the “Chaos Caucus” and am scheduled to do an interview with Erin Burnett of CNN tomorrow. They’re liberals, but they’re not wrong on this one.
* And the worst could be yet to come if the party fouls up its caucus two days from now. But what are the odds? They’ve done such a bang-up job so far. I’m sure they’ve got this.
* Not.
* In other news…
* You may have read about a surge in Republican registrations in Nevada last month. Not exactly true.
* Yes, the gap between R and D registrations narrowed, however, this was mainly due to a “purge” of voters from the voter files who have moved or died.
* As for new registrations, 1,120 registered R and 980 registered D. Hardly a “surge.”
* Where there was a big difference was in almost 4,000 already-registered voters switching parties to the GOP.
* But this is likely a short-term change, as many of those voters likely switched parties to vote in the presidential primary, which is closed to non-Republicans unless they switch. Most will likely switch back after the primary is over.
* Democrat Assemblywoman Shannon Bilbray Axelrod officially announced today that she’s running for Clark County Commission this year rather than re-election.
* She’ll likely square off against Republican April Becker for the open seat being vacated by Democrat incumbent Ross Miller who isn’t running for re-election.
* That opens her Assembly seat for a possible flip. Republican Brandon Davis is a sharp GOP candidate well-positioned to pick up this seat.
* And finally…
* Despite his being a hard-core liberal, I love Samuel L. Jackson’s movies – with the exception of Snakes on a Plane. So I was really looking forward to seeing “Argyle,” which also billed itself as starring former WWE superstar John Cena.
* What a disappointment. Bait-and-switch movie. Jackson and Cena had, at best, cameo appearances. And the movie itself was a hot mess.
* I think I’ll just stick to the classics when they come back to the big screen for anniversary showings. Like The Wizard of Oz last week.
FAMOUS LAST WORDS
“We can give parents choice & support public schools at the same time. You’ll hear me say that over & over again – these two ideas are not in conflict.” – Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee (R)
