* As a white man in America, his critical commentary was immediately labeled “racist” and the syndicator that runs his comic in hundreds of newspapers across the country – including the Las Vegas SUN – dropped “Dilbert” from their papers today.
* “The SUN is a firm believer in the free and fair exchange of ideas,” the paper’s editor wrote, presumably with a straight face, in a notice that appeared where “Dilbert” is usually found this
morning. “But hate speech crosses that line.”
* Except…it wasn’t “hate speech.”
* It was a free and fair exchange of ideas the left wants to muzzle because it simply doesn’t agree with them. Never is to be heard a discouraging word that doesn’t support the notion that “white supremacy” and “systemic racism” are running rampant from sea to shining sea.
* In response, “Dilbert” fans all across the fruited plain are cancelling their newspaper subscriptions. Unfortunately, you can’t do that in Las Vegas because the SUN is delivered as an insert in the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
* If you want the RJ, you have to get the SUN whether you want it or not – kinda like receiving mail-in ballots you didn’t request and don’t want.
* In other news…
* The long knives are out for Nevada Democrat Party Chairwoman Judith Witmer leading up to her re-election vote just days away.
* They set up a “shadow” party organization for the 2022 election cycle and tried to bleed the main party dry – not unlike what the establishment GOP powers-that-be did to the Republican
Party about a dozen years ago.
* And it’s getting ugly. The opposition’s “dumpster divers” found a skeleton in Witmer’s closet… Danielle Monroe-Moreno, to challenge Witmer, and have publicly endorsed kicking the socialist to the curb.
* And it’s getting ugly. The opposition’s “dumpster divers” found askeleton in Witmer’s closet…
* On Monday, David Charns of 8 News Now reported that Witmer “is a felon convicted of grand theft in the 1990s who was once ordered not to handle money at work without a probation officer’s approval.”
“Whitmer pleaded nolo contendere to a charge of grand theft between $750 and $5,000, records showed. Nolo contendere means a defendant accepts a conviction but does not admit guilt.”
* You’d think this Empire-Strikes-Back campaign spells doom for the embattled chair. But that overlooks the nature of the electorate that will be casting ballots this weekend.
* Central Committee members, of both parties, tend to be true believers and renegades. So don’t be surprised if the establishment’s attacks backfire and make Witmer a sympathetic figure to rally behind.
* Meanwhile…
* A group of “top donors and supporters” of Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis gathered in Palm Springs this past weekend, including a number of top Trump donors, signaling growing support for DeSantis’ expected presidential run later this year.
* How long before Trump’s political hatchet-man, Ric Grenell, goes after Laxalt for being “disloyal” to the president the way he attacked those of us who backed Sam Brown over Adam in the 2022 U.S. Senate primary?
* Ricky, don’t lose my number.
* Lastly, the Republican National Committee (RNC) has announced that all GOP presidential candidates for 2024 must sign a “loyalty oath” promising to back whoever the eventual Republican presidential nominee is in order to qualify for primary debates.
* Trump refused to sign such an oath in 2016. What’ll he do this time around?
