Muth's Truths Plus

02/21/23

*I know we’re supposedly in a drought and all, but is this really a proper role of government?

*And if the water shortage is really so severe, why are we continuing to build
more houses to boost our population of water-drinkers in Nevada?

*Restauranteurs can take a little solace in the fact that the bill stipulates
that “A food establishment is not subject to any penalty or fine for a violation of this section.”

*Yeah, right. How long will that last? How long before we have “WaterCops” raiding Denny’s for automatically serving a glass of H2O with your Grand Slam breakfast?

*Worse, the bill “fixes” a problem that doesn’t even exist, as explained by the Las Vegas Review-Journal this morning…

“The water that goes down the drain isn’t exactly wasted in Southern Nevada, where
more than three-quarters of Nevadans live. About 99 percent of water used
indoors in Southern Nevada is treated and recycled back to Lake Mead for reuse, according to the Southern Nevada Water Authority.”

*I get the intent of the bill, but is this really the way to go? Don’t we have bigger fish to fry?

*Like AB196, introduced by Republican Assemblymembers Melissa Hardy and Greg
Hafen, which “Revises provisions governing the injection of a neuromodulator
that is derived from Clostridium botulinum.”

*Now, I’m sure you and your family were talking about that just last night at
the dinner table, weren’t you? I mean, THAT’S what’s keeping Nevada voters up at night, right? THAT’S what will pull all those independent voters into the GOP’s corner in ’24, right?

*Ugh.

*Don’t get me wrong. Some Republicans have introduced some really good bills. But I wouldn’t include either of the two mentioned above. Dubious on the policy front and certainly not helpful politically…except with the neuromodulator crowd in the electorate.

*But THIS is what really should be keeping you up at night…

*Some of the bills being introduced by Democrats are FAR worse. Buckle up. This is gonna get ugly.

*SAVE THE DATE: We’ll be hosting a spring “Death & Taxes” fundraising dinner at the Italian-American Club on Saturday night, April 15. Details to come. Just waiting on confirmation of our VIP speaker/guest-of-honor…but go ahead and pencil it in on your calendar in the meantime.
