* A federal judge dismissed the case by a Texas man trying to ban Donald Trump from Nevada’s primary ballot. But Trump isn’t ON the primary ballot.
* He was banned from filing for the primary by the Nevada GOP which said candidates who filed for the primary would not be allowed to file for its intra-party caucus two days later.
* Speaking of which…
* The Hill reported on Tuesday that a new Emerson poll shows Trump ahead by 65 points among likely Nevada GOP caucus goers. But nah, the caucus isn’t rigged, is it?
* By the way, if you’re not already a registered Republican you CANNOT vote in the Nevada GOP’s February 8 caucus. However, you can still register as a Republican – or switch your party affiliation – and vote in the February 6 primary.
* A poll by a liberal pro-Democrat organization, Future Majority, shows Republican U.S. Senate challenger Sam Brown trailing Democrat incumbent Sen. “Wacky” Jacky Rosen by just one point, 39-38% with 23% undecided.
* The Nevada Assembly Democrat Caucus has been endorsing candidates left and further left for weeks now while the Nevada Assembly Republican Caucus has been AWOL.
* That makes no sense. At the very least, they should be co-endorsing the GOP Assembly candidates that Republican Gov. Joe Lombardo has already endorsed. That would help with their fundraising.
* Now is NOT the time to be standing on the sidewalk and watching the parade go by. It’s CRITICAL that Republicans pick up seats in the Assembly to protect the governor’s veto power.
* Come on, guys. What are you waiting for? Get in the game!
* Now that Assemblywoman Heidi Kasama has decided to run for re-election instead of Congress – and Gov. Joe Lombardo has endorsed her re-election campaign – what’s Jesse Law gonna do?
* Law is the embattled, indicted chairman of the Clark County Republican Party who, for some unknown reason, recently decided to run for Kasama’s District 2 seat. He announced his candidacy just hours before his indictment as a “fake elector” was announced.
* Republicans in the Assembly need a net pickup of one seat in November to get out of their super-minority status and protect the governor’s vetoes.
* If Law is the nominee for AD2, odds are the GOP loses the seat – meaning they’d have to net TWO flipped seats instead of one. I gotta believe that was a big factor in Kasama’s decision to run for re-election instead of Congress.
* I had assumed that once Kasama announced she was running for re-election that Law would withdraw. At press time, to the best of my knowledge, he hasn’t done so.
* I stopped by the Nevada Republican Club luncheon yesterday briefly and chatted with a number of GOP stalwarts. One told me they’d talked to Law about this and Law supposedly told them there was no way he was dropping out.
* It’s a fool’s errand.
* If Law is going to flip Gov. Lombardo the bird and run anyway, the very least he should do is resign as party chairman. If you’re going to try to run the party and run a campaign at the same time, both will be failures.
* A dog can’t serve two masters. Time for choosing, Jesse.
