* The perennial candidate returns.

* With the withdrawal of Assemblywoman Heidi Kasama from Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District race, Dan Schwartz announced today that he’s throwing his hat in the ring.

* As the Nevada Independent notes, “Schwartz has run in nearly every election cycle in Nevada since 2012.” He joins Drew Johnson and Elizabeth Halseth in the GOP primary.

* The Nevada Republican Party’s unhinged National Committeewoman, Sigal “Hang ‘em From a Crane” Chattah is shooting off her mouth again.

* In response to Las Vegas Review-Journal columnist Victor Joeck’s tweet yesterday accurately pointing out that there are “a lot of confused and angry Republicans” over the Nevada GOP’s “Chaos Caucus,” Siggy replied…

“Instead of complaining about it, you can actually disclose to your readers that for at least the past 4 decades, Nevada Republicans nominated their Presidential candidates through a Caucus and have always bound their delegates through a Presidential caucus, instead of grossly misrepresenting that this year’s caucus is some sort of novelty to the State.”

* Ahhh, where to begin?

* First, as a still wet-behind-the-ears party leader she obviously hasn’t learned the lesson that you don’t pick a fight with somebody who buys ink by the barrel and paper by the ton.

* Secondly, she obviously doesn’t know that the party did NOT hold a presidential caucus in 1996, 2004 or 2020. Accuracy isn’t exactly her strong suit.

* Thirdly, there was NO REASON the party couldn’t have held a caucus to select its delegates to the GOP National Convention while also allowing the candidates to participate in the official presidential primary.

* Fourthly, this IS a “novelty to the State.” The Legislature passed, and the governor signed, a bill in 2021 officially changing Nevada from a caucus state to a primary state. You may not like the change – I don’t – but that’s the rule of the game now.

* Just as the Legislature changed the rules of the game in 2020 by adding automatic mail-in balloting and ballot harvesting. For some reason, the party has embraced those two “novelties,” but not the primary.

* The ONLY reason the party continued to fight the primary – and set up this confusing “Chaos Caucus” - was because it wanted to “rig” the caucus for Trump, who likely would have won both anyway.

* And if you still don’t think the Nevada GOP is in the bag for Trump, Siggy followed up her slapshot at Joecks by taking one at Ron DeSantis…

“Last night @RonDeSantis went on @CNN and told America that the @NVGOP CHANGED their Presidential election to “rig it for Trump”. @ChristinaPushaw - while you’re keeping your patient comfortable, perhaps you can school him that @NVGOP has been nominating our Presidential candidates for the Republican National Convention through a Caucus the past 4 decades. #DeSaster hasn’t been here since his announcement at the Basque Fry last June.”

* Pushaw is the Rapid Response director for the DeSantis campaign.

* DeSantis was in Las Vegas in October. I know. I attended one of his three events here. Accuracy isn’t exactly Siggy’s strong suit.

* In any event, what we have here is one of the top three GOP officials in the state referring to perhaps America’s most successful Republican governor as a “patient” while referring to him as “DeSaster” – which isn’t even clever.

* I wonder how she’d react if people started referring to her as “SiegHeil” Chattah?

* The Mouth That Bored also recently wrote that “the grassroots hates Nikki Haley” and has repeatedly referred to her as “#Birdbrain.” But, nah, the caucus isn’t rigged, right?

* Every time Siggy shoots off her mouth she shoots herself – and the Nevada GOP - in the foot.

* Which reminds me: Not a day goes by without someone asking me how to change the failed leadership at the Nevada Republican Party which brought this primary/caucus disaster on itself by banning Trump and DeSantis from filing for the primary.

* The reality is, Chairman Michael McDonald is not up for re-election until 2025 unless he decides to resign – which he stubbornly refuses to do. He’s simply too wedded to Trump.

* However, at the Nevada GOP convention in May convention delegates will have an opportunity to oust the Chattah Box, as well as indicted Republican National Committeeman Jim DeGriftenreid.

* That said, you can’t beat somebody with nobody. Nevada Republicans unhappy with the state of affairs in its leadership will need to find some viable candidates to challenge the two.

FAMOUS LAST WORDS

“As a Nevada resident who religiously reads your newsletter, you know everything, so I'm asking: Received ballot in mail for primary election, and DeSantis and Trump are not listed. Is this an error? How is this occurring? Are they sending out corrected ballots? Are there going to be caucuses? Can we vote in the caucus and at polls? How does this work? Do we check the box None of These Candidates? How are the 2 candidates highest in polls left off the ballot? What the hell is going on? We know Nevada is 50 in education, but you can’t make this s--t up!!” – Muth’s Truths subscriber

“Just my 2 cents. This whole Caucus/Primary thing is as dumb as the IDIOTS running the Republican Party in Nevada. The money they are wasting could be better spent on getting the names and achievements of our local Republicans running for office, giving us a better chance of gaining seats in the next election.” – Muth’s Truths subscriber
